Remake of Ragnarok Online

So Ragnarok Online 2 really didn't end up being my cup of tea but don't worry Ragnarok Fans we still have hope. The game Tree of Savior has the same team that worked on Ragnarok Online the first one and they have already done an amazing job capturing all the leveling system, classes, and jobs that we loved from Ragnarok Online. The game is still in closed beta and needs work as of yet but it is totally a game worth following.
Even though the game still has at least another 3 to 6 months before releasing to open beta I would remain active in checking it out. Especially if your stuck playing Ragnarok Online 2 because Tree of Savior will really bring back the same feel as Ragnarok Online and it also is more action combat adding a brand new level of awesome to the game.

Ragnarok Online 2: DPS Priest / Hybrid Build's

I covered information about a pure healing spec for priest but today I'm going to go over the DPS spec information about the skills and also information about the healing / DPS hybrid spec. The main priority of priest DPS build is keeping your damage over time skills rolling on the boss. So you'll be rolling your damage over time skills to keep constant flow of DPS to the boss. Its best to start out with adoramus because it has the longest duration of damage over time and has a cast time. It makes it easier to combine a skill with no cast time after adoramus so you will want to use oratio because of its high damage. Genesis Ray is used when aspersio is on cooldown because for an extra second you do not have to wait for the cooldown to come off for aspersio. With Archangel you would want to start using it right from the beginning before you cast any spells. Then during the fight you want to use it just before refreshing your damage over time skills. By having crescent, oratio and genesis ray together it makes keeping track of the damage over time duration easier to track. When a fight has trash monsters that need to be killed it's best to throw your damage over time skills on each of them then focus the boss. Or in some situations you would use aspersio and then mangus exorcism Using aspersio with holy light seems to be the best way to stack up damage since it always causes holy light to critical unlike genesis ray which does not always critical even though the base damage is higher.

With a Hybrid talent build you would focus on healing ability while having the DPS skills which allow you to still maintain good DPS. Of course we would keep our damage over time skills as the top important skill since that it does hold most of our over all DPS. Highness heal over the use of the normal heal we of course do not want to be spamming it right from the beginning because of threat but with the use of aspersio this is a valuable healing skill. Assumptio to reduce damage can keep someone in your party alive much longer then normal. Aspersio also shows it is important for our holy light dpsing since we critical with it and of course we want to use archangel to increase the damage of our damage over time skills.

Fixing The Problem with the Ragnarok Online 2 UI Resetting

There is a bug on the opened beta of Ragnarok Online 2 that every time you log-out your settings for the game get reset. This problem started occurring in the most recent patch before settings saved properly so within one of the newer patches they broke the game. Apparently what they did was changed the location of where the game saves your user settings. And because of the lack of a correct folder the game won't even save a new client settings because it does not have the rights to make a folder unlike Ragnarok Online the original which would automatically create a file and folder if none existed.

Fixing the error is pretty simple first you need to go to C:\PlayPark\RO2 then look for the User folder if one doesn't exist make one. In the User folder make another folder with the server name for example mine is Jormungand-SG so I use that. Then click inside of that folder and make a file called MY.CHARACTERNAME.USER replace character name with your characters name case sensitive. The next time you log-in to game and edit the UI it should save when you log-out.

This will relieve the stress of the spam filled chat and make it so your settings will finally stay. I hope you found this to be useful and informative and I hope you have a happy open beta testing.

Guide to Healing Priest

I started my Ragnarok Online 2 adventure with an Acolyte hoping to eventually build a priest. Unfortunately I had no idea what I was doing at first and managed to get to level 8 or so then realized that I was doing it wrong only to delete my character and remake it over again. From what I've noticed so far the importance of leveling any DPS skills over one point is useless because in a dungeon or raid group you will not be using them at all and you will be focus healing and buffing your group. When a player in your group dies it's important to bless them right away because they will not be staying alive for long without buffs. Healing as a priest from what I've read is easier for healing a single target like a tank.

The type of build I'm using is more of a hybrid healing build since currently I'm leveling. I'm mostly investing points into INT but in the future I'll most likely be going with something similar to 40 INT 40 AGI and the rest into VIT. I put an example of my build in the table below. I find I can gather a group of monsters using Oratio and then just AOE them to death. It makes questing much easier then Holy Light spamming. Of course if you wanted more points to spend towards your support skill tree you could completely skip all the other DPS skills on the DPS tree.

The skill Aqua Benedicta will save you a fortune on potions in the future of course I still took Alchemy as a job because I wanted to be able to make the buff potions for myself. Aspersio is one of the most valuable skills to a priest because it allows them to use resurrection with no cool down time. It takes around 3 seconds to cast resurrection and is a valuable tool in a raid where 3 seconds wasted can mean a wipe for your group.

Highness heal can critical up to 4k+ and with meditatio at 1 you'll be able to heal around 2k+ every 2 seconds it also effects sanctuary and raises the hp of your party members temporary. Meditatio's translation is really poor in the English and does not really explain properly of what it does. But meditatio doesn't effect the percentage of a critical hit. It effects the value of the heal amount so for example if your heal was a critical of 3000 damage it would raise it to 3500 or 4000 instead. And the combination of having aspersio a healing priest would not need to raise the skill. Only a DPS priest would see value in increasing meditatio.  Angelus is pretty useless because bosses will 2-3 hit a party member regardless of the amount of your current defense especially with the amount of defense it gives. If the skill however was 100% instead might allow someone to last longer but the value of what angelus gives is terrible. Archangel has a really awesome ability but as a healing priest you would not want to waste the points in this skill even as a DPS priest you would be forced to give up resurrect and bless and the investment in other skills would be much more valuable to you. Suffragium is a very useful skill but for my build since I invested in the extra DPS skills I did not have enough points to make use of the skill. Perhaps at max level I'll respect and drop the other DPS skills to pick up that one but if your making a pure build you can drop the extra DPS skills and pick it up right from the start. Sanctuary is useful for survival and should not be used for healing your party using aspersio is a must and should always be paired together. Highness Heal causes a HOT(Healing Over Time) besides just healing your party members when used with aspersio but this skill can cause a lot of threat you would want to avoid using this skill at the start of a battle to avoid getting killed by the boss until the tank has built up enough threat. Assumptio will keep whoever you decide to give it to alive whether you decide to give it to yourself or another healer in the group.

The other valuable professions to go with as a priest is either blacksmithing, or artisan. Avoid using Chef because it has the lowest value to a priest. That's about it for a healing priest. Once I learn the class more I'll make another guide with DPS priest and explain what you'll be aiming for in terms of skills and how they are used.

Ragnarok Online 2 Open Beta Test

So the server is finally up for Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second and everyone has been rushing to play the game. I myself and some friends have decided to also play it. At first I was unsure about whether or not I was going to like the game. The style of RO2 is different from RO1 they took a different approach at the graphics. They remind me more of a live anime game.

When  I finally was able to login to the game I was pretty impressed the style of art is pretty well done and the client and interface is a real nice refresher compared to the older interface. Some of the key things you notice right away is being able to re-size the chat window and having a world map that actually shows the location of where you are on the map as well as being able to have it show as an overlay so you can see where your going.

The next thing I noticed which I really find interesting is the Khara system which is an achievement window. It grants you various titles by completing different tasks. Some tasks in the Khara window give crafting experience, money and experience, titles, and more Khara points to farther the ability to unlock more new things. As you level up more titles and things you'll be able to obtain will apear some of them cost Khara challenge points. The titles give bonus stat points which was made as a balancing requiring you to progress achievement's in order to get better stat bonus's. I like that about it unlike most games for achievements they give you a reason to want to complete them other then just having a title over your head.

The return of the vending system at level 10 is also nice being able to set up shop where ever you want can be a valuable tool. So far I do not see a way to vend while your offline that is usually seen from Ragnarok Online private servers. But there is an auction house which allows you to sell items unfortunately the search feature on the auction is pretty basic and requires a lot of fighting with it to find things your looking for hopefully in the future they will improve it. There are taxes to using the auction house in RO2 as well.

Traveling is pretty awesome in the game as well with the kafra system that has a transport which you can fly with a kafra member on a broomstick from one location to another. At level 10 you can pick up a mount for 10 gold from Prontera which helps your running speed and makes it less tedious running around everywhere.

One of the biggest things you'll notice right away is how opened world the game feels. You still have the portals from one area to the next but the way the game was designed you cover a wide area before finding yourself going into a portal. Some area's have a change from day to night when you enter that part of the map which gives it a unique feel. And the terrian and the models are beautiful. I was quite impressed with Prontera and how good it looked.

Actually being able to jump in Ragnarok Online 2 is pretty interesting as well since we really did not see that in RO1 other then teakwon class and soul linker. So I manage to forget I can actually jump often but I'm sure the longer I play the more i'll get used to it.

The guild system is also back along with our favorite emblems my friend managed to make a guild and said that the guild skills have returned along with guild ranks. They added some new guild skill perks that also reduce the cost of repairing items but the war of emperium has not made it's way into Ragnarok Online 2 yet. I would imagine they should also allow us to make guild allies in the future hopefully as well.

With the new skill system it provides Ragnarok Online 2 with a really nice system which is some what similar to the old World of Warcraft system minus the annoying part of not being able to customize your build. In Ragnarok Online 2 you'll find with the talents you'll always have more skills then you will points which pretty much makes you decide which skills to pick which to level up completely if at all. Some skills are also buff skills which work towards your full party as well as ones which are passive or on the use of another skill.

The dungeons provide a really enjoyable experience and fighting the golden thief bug was a lot of fun. The dungeon matching system and party finder is really useful in Ragnarok Online 2 and I also hear that there's also raids at higher levels. You can also find world bosses outside of dungeons which need a group to kill. I've done two of them so far and they where pretty interesting although I got killed a few times in the process.

The only negatives I see about Ragnarok Online 2 so far is that its being hosted in china and it gets laggy when all of the people from Singapore and the Philippines wake up to start playing. The other thing is that you cannot reset your skills or stats without buying items from the item mall so if you join make sure that you use the application to check skills out which they released on the website. You will not be changing skills or stats after you choose a skill. It also frightens me that they will end up being free to play because I dread the possibility the game could be pay to win in the future even if they claim they will not be doing a pay to win game.

But overall I'm pretty sure that when you try Ragnarok Online 2 you'll really enjoy the story the quests and everything that Ragnarok Online 2 has to offer you. I will be posting some various guides in the future for some of the quests as well as some guides to the interface for people that are interested in playing or for people that are in game and feel like they are lost in Ragnarok Online 2. Unfortunately I do not think there will be a Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the second emulator for the game because it does use game-guard and unless someone really skilled plans on spending a lot of time building one I think this one will be official only.
